Located the south of France, Provence-Grand-Large is the first floating pilot wind farm in the Mediterranean sea.
Comprised of three 8.4MW Siemens-Gamesa wind turbines installed in water depths of 100 meters, the project marks the inaugural use of TLP-type floaters anchored to the seabed with tension-leg mooring lines.
The project will have a capacity of 25 MW. It will produce the equivalent to the annual consumption of a town of 45,000 in habitants.
A global actor with a local commitment
EDF Renewables is a long term actor which establishes 30 to 40 years in a territory for each project.
We develop, build and operate offshore projects, that implicates a strong consultation with harbor and maritime actors, before, during and after the construction phase.
Consultation with professional fishery and vessels starts from the very start of our projects.
We are committed to the creation of local supply-chain. In total for our first three offshore wind farms in France, 7,000 jobs have been created.
We manage the decommissioning of all of our projects. Today, 90% of turbine’s weight is reused or recycled.
